The subsequent application treats silicone gaskets in tempering ovens through vulcanization. In this process, silicone vapors are produced which must be separated. Filtering the harmful substance while simultaneously recovering the heat contained in the air flow proved to be another challenge to the LTA team. The oven temperature amounts to 210° C, the treatment of one charge takes around 4 hours.
The problem at hand was the compound machining of fiber-glass reinforced plastic (FGRP) in dry machining (chip formation). Alternately, aluminium is machined on the same Haas machine VF-6/40 TR using minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) which produces sticky chips. The collection of the chips proved to be quite difficult.
