WOLFFKRAN, in conjunction with coresystems and proaxia, to launch a pilot project for fast service delivery via cloud computing

März 04 12:13 2011

Installing programs on a computer is a time-consuming process, and even more costs are incurred due to the necessary file management tasks. Today’s cloud computing saves time and money. The principle is simple: thanks to the increasingly fast Internet connections now available, more and more of the data and programs that used to reside on individual computers at the workplace can instead be located on central servers on the Internet, the so-called cloud. This provides permanent access to the files via cell phones or PCs.

Service via a fast, efficient network

WOLFFKRAN will be utilizing cloud computing for its service processes from the first of March. From March onwards, service call data from the SAP system will be transferred directly to the iPhones of WOLFFKRANs installers and electrical engineers. The iPhone app allows service calls to be opened, managed and closed again. The transfer of data from the SAP system will occur asynchronously via the cloud, i.e. the program can continue to be used when the Internet connection is lost, and data transfer will resume automatically as soon as the connection is restored. This saves time when ordering replacement parts or scheduling servicing work, as well as during deployments on the construction site. When the project is completed, the required data for billing are available immediately. Furthermore, it enables the scheduler at WOLFFKRAN to maintain a complete overview of the available engineers at all times. “All our decision makers were immediately impressed with this innovative solution, which is a first step for us in mobilizing and accelerating our SAP processes”, says Andreas Berg, CIO at Wolffkran.

WOLFFKRAN is especially pleased with the drastic reduction in processing times through to invoicing, and the single point entry of data. In the first phase of the pilot project, WOLFFKRAN installers and electrical engineers in Switzerland will be equipped with the mobile solution, and in the second phase the new system will be rolled out to all other locations as well.
