Jena, – April 2010: asphericon, a leading manufacturer of high-precision aspherical lenses and other optical components, improves quality testing by the implementation of a state of the art 3D inspection system made by confovis, a novice on the fiercely competitive market of high end industrial microscopy. A superior technology for the three-dimensional precision screening of glass surfaces with the highly adaptive confovis scan module at its heart has been developed in tight cooperation between asphericon and confovis to cater the exceptionally specific needs of the patented asphericon production method.
Sven R. Kiontke, asphericon CEO, explains: „This state of the art Screening Equipment enables us to accommodate the escalating precision demands of our customers better then ever. We ensure the continued renown of our company and the excellence of our products by the constant implementation of innovative and avant-garde technologies in our production and quality screening equipment.”
The unique and patented confovis technology allows the extremely precise screening of surfaces and the detection of three-dimensional features only a few nanometers in size. The innovative grid-confocal method functions without moving parts making the robust and compact confovis module a more precise and cost efficient working apparatus than all comparable machinery. The system uses a modern LED technique instead of laser beams. A vast variety of surfaces can be scanned including metals, polymers, ceramics, organic materials and glass.
Confovis founder and CEO Dr. Michael Schwertner comments the handing over of his invention: “Confovis is happy to have won asphericon as a reference client and partner for the development for this ultramodern industrial screening solution. We were able to elaborate in only a brief period of intense collaboration a system that ideally fits all particular parameters and needs of asphericons manufacturing and quality screening procedures.”
This new technology provides the easy finding of surface anomalies and their immediate, ultra precise measurement. Two separate pieces of equipment have been used before to achieve, what the prying eye of a confovis module can do in one fast sweep. Asphericon production manager Mr. Klaus Braeutigam explains: “The confovis optical system replaces slower working tactile line-profile technology. A direct advantage of this highly adaptive component is its compatibility with our proprietary lens fixtures. The early quantification and measurement of surface parameters allows optimal adjustment of further production procedures leading to significant savings in fabrication time and costs. The easy handling of this round the clock working apparatus is a very pleasant and practical feature too.”
