Low-maintenance Filtering of Extruder Vapors Containing Plasticizers

Mai 10 11:44 2010

The extruder is equipped with a total of four suction points linked through a piping system. The vapors also include a plasticizer which may not be mixed with water. This substance crystallizes at a temperature below 22° C according to the spec sheet; therefore, it must be ensured during the process that the temperature never drops below this point.
Until then, the purification of the air had been realized using a solid matter filter and via a fleece which quickly became clogged within just 8 hours, however. In addition, the requested purity degree could not be achieved.

The solution was to procedurally keep the temperature stable above 22° C. In a next step, an LTY air filter type AC 3021-V-A in stainless steel design was installed after which the air is directed to the atmosphere via a vent stack. The measured effective volume flow rate amounts to approc. 1,400 m³/h.
