SGS offers the updated Brazilian INMETRO certification for white goods

September 21 13:51 2010

Decree 371, issued December 29, 2009 requires all household
appliances to be included on the list of products that need
mandatory certification by Brazilian Government accredited bodies.

The decree will gradually come into force, in three stages, starting
with 1 July, 2011. From this date, white goods need to be tested
against the technical standards set out by Decree 371. All products
that pass testing successfully will need to display the compulsory
INMETRO mark. Companies are also required to comply with
prescribed maintenance conditions by having a Customer
Complaint Service in operation. Regular assessment of
manufacturers will take place, to ensure compliance to these
requirements.

SGS is the largest INMETRO-accredited certification body in Brazil,
able to certify your consumer goods ensuring standards
compliance and market access for your product. For more info
