Schaltbau GmbH is expanding production capacities at its Velden and Aldersbach plants, both located in Lower Bavaria. The company is investing a total of seven million euros in new buildings and production equipment, in order to generate additional growth with innovative Schaltbau products and bolster the job situation in the region.
Schaltbau is investing in state-of-the-art production buildings at both sites. After a nine-month construction period, manufacturing in the new buildings is already expected to commence in 2014. The Aldersbach plant is responsible for pre-production and the final assembly of the components is performed in Velden. Production floor space will be increased from the current 8,500 to a total of 13,000 square metres. The two plants employ a total workforce of some 330 skilled staff, including 12 apprentices. The company produces a broad range of contactors, switches, connectors and electrics for rolling stock, both for international railway equipment manufacturers and for industry applications in general. The building project represents the largest single investment in almost 85 years of Schaltbau history. The expansion will mean that Schaltbau GmbH and its team of highly motivated, skilled specialists are well equipped to handle the growing volume of customer orders with even greater speed and reliability.
