ROMFORD, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 03/28/12 — , the UK-s leading provider of mailroom equipment and software, announced today that the gap between stamped and franked mail is now even wider.
Royal Mail has confirmed today that from April 30th, 2012, the price of a 1st class stamp will rise again from 46p to 60p, an increase of 30% and the price of a 2nd class stamp will rise from 36p to 50p an increase of 39%.
Changes to how Royal Mail is regulated means they are free to set the price of first class stamps and business mail so these price increases could be repeated again in the future.
Royal Mail wants to support businesses with cost effective postal solutions during this period of economic uncertainty. By keeping franked mail prices low, companies are able to send more post which helps generate much needed businesses.
For businesses still using stamps to send items of mail, there is a more convenient and cheaper alternative – .
Franking machine users receive a discount on every item of mail sent, saving 19p (38%) on every 2nd class letter and 16p (26%) on every 1st class letter. This means a 1st class franked letter is now cheaper to send than a second class stamped letter.
Do only high volume users benefit from using a franking machine?
No, if you are sending more than 5 items of mail a day the postal savings will offset the rental and running costs of your franking machine so you get all the benefits for free! These include:-
Productivity
No more queuing for stamps – with a franking machine you can purchase postage on-line 24/7. It-s really easy and quick to calculate the right postage every time.
Cost Savings
