With PrismaMINI, Distec GmbH – leading German specialist for TFT-LCD flat screens and system solutions for industrial and multimedia applications – presents a groundbreaking member of the well-proven cost-efficient and powerful Prisma converter card series for industrial display control. The TFT controller with minimal size is beneficial and can be adapted individually. „PrismaMINI marks the onset of a new concept that meets the constantly growing need for minimal space requirements and high cost efficiency,“ explained Dieter Kiermaier, Head of Sales and Marketing Components with Distec. „In addition, this novel TFT controller provides the usual high industry quality and performance. It is ideal for use in the automation industry, at the point of sale (POS), as well as in operation terminals and ticket machines.“ Another field of application is embedded design: ARM boards such as RaspberryPI, for example, are becoming increasingly popular amongst design engineers. However, these boards offer only one HDMI output, complicating the control of small TFTs over LVDS: PrismaMINI provides a beneficial alternative.
Individually Customized – for Project Volumes as Low as 500 Pieces
The functionality of PrismaMINI is purely defined by requirements contingent to the project. In close collaboration with the developers of Distec, customers choose their desired features, board shape and size, input and output interfaces, and further attributes. The result will be a small and low-cost TFT controller that perfectly suits the individual application.
Functional Variety
The core of the project-specific display controller PrismaMINI is a scaler chip by STMicroelectronics. The TFT controller is HDCP compliant and offers optimized design for supporting LED TFTs. The wide choice of input interfaces includes HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, and VGA, with input resolution of 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz. It provides a single or dual LVDS output (max. 1920 x 1200). Further, the converter card is equipped with a serial interface (UART, RS-232) for remote control via remote OSD as well as a DDC interface to control the most important image parameters, dispensing with an OSD keypad.
