Nordeon: New LED high bay luminaire THOR with only 2 years payback time is benchmark in terms of lifetime

– THOR achieves double the service life of 100,000 hours
– Designed for the most demanding conditions; withstands temperatures up to 50° C
– Maximum efficiency and performance
– 2 years payback time – Quality „Made in Germany“
Nordeon, manufacturer of innovative and energy-efficient technical lighting solutions, sets a new benchmark in this segment with its latest LED high bay luminaire THOR. This high bay LED luminaire is designed for applications in industry, trade and public areas.
Lifetime of 100,000 hours sets new standard
Developed and manufactured by Nordeon at the site in Springe, Germany, the THOR guarantees a lifetime of 100,000 hours (L80B10). This is essentially contributing to a revolutionary thermal management, a robust aluminum housing and the high-quality, high power LED technology used.
Johannes Haskamp, head of product management at Nordeon, is proud of the achieved doubling of lifetime and a payback time of only 2 years: „With the THOR we have set a milestone in the field of indoor lighting. Of course the Thor also offers the typical Nordeon payback time of only 2 years.“
Designed for harsh environments
Lighting in industrial buildings, warehouses and distribution centers face particular challenges. Water, dirt, vibrations, high ambient temperatures up to 50° C or mechanical effects such as impacts are not uncommon. The THOR LED high bay luminaire meets these requirements and is in terms of light output and quality of light not compromising.
Maximum efficiency at 28.000 lm – 2 years payback time
Through the use of THOR, with 115 lm/W customers benefit from significant energy savings. Depending on burning hours and electricity prices over 300 ? energy cost savings per year and luminaire can be reached. Through the use of integrable motion sensors and daylight-dependent controls, a further reduce of the energy consumption can be achieved.
The very high luminous flux of up to 28,000 lm in combination with three application-optimized light distributions ensures that the number of necessary luminaires can often be reduced. This saves additional investment and installation costs. As a result, the already attractive payback time is further reduced.
The timelessly attractive product design of the THOR LED high bay luminaire extended the range of applications beyond the purely industrial application. The anthracite painted aluminum housing of the THOR opens up other applications like retail and architecturally sophisticated lighting tasks in public areas, for example in the market fair, station or airport halls.
The name of the luminaire is borrowed from the Norse god of thunder and light, THOR. A name that stands for strength and protection. And this is also what Nordeons THOR LED high bay luminaire stands for. The production of THOR at the site in Springe, Germany, a location with more than 40-years of history as a former AEG and Philips production and development facility, will begin in December.

Nordeon is a new, innovative European manufacturer of LED luminaires and lamps with over 60 years of experience. Nordeon was founded in October 2012 with the acquisition of the Philips development and manufacturing facility in Springe, Germany and expanded in December 2012 and November 2013 by the acquisition of the Philips production sites in Chalon sur Saône and Dijon, France. We combine the experience of professional engineering of LED luminaires with the speed and flexibility of a newcomer. We have one of the largest LED manufacturing facilities in Europe, with latest industrial equipment and lean production processes. We strive to achieve high energy savings for our customers by rethinking the way lighting products are developed, produced, and sold.
