The Pforzheim system specialist ELMA Electronic presented a new backplane within CompactPCI Serial technology. It has one CPU and four peripheral slots and its well-proportioned design allows even more compact high-performance systems in the future. With the new backplane, ELMA enhances its existing product range by another contribution to the increasingly important CompactPCI Serial technology. Its high-speed connectors support data transfer rates of up to 12 GB/s on all five slots. ELMA-CTO Aksel Saltuklar is pleased with this novelty: „The CompactPCI successor technology is more and more accepted in the market. As by now several card manufacturers offer powerful products, we want to offer our customers even more flexibility. With the small five-slot-backplane, we once more follow the trend towards downsizing. Therefore we are working on a small CompactPCI Serial standard system and a three-slot-backplane. Both will be presented in the coming weeks.“
