The prestigious honor was awarded to renowned architect Paolo Soleri in 2008, former Intel CEO and chairman, Craig Barrett in 2009 and Steve Sanghi, president, CEO and chairman, Microchip Technology in 2010.

Mr. Vallee has been with Avnet for 34 years and served as the Company-s chairman and CEO for the past 13 years. During his tenure as CEO, Avnet quadrupled sales while significantly improving return on capital employed and cash flow by establishing and driving value-based management principles globally. As Avnet-s executive chairman, Mr. Vallee is focusing on ensuring the completion of the seamless transition in leadership to new Avnet CEO Rick Hamada. He will continue to Chair Avnet-s Board of Directors and work on selected strategic activities.

Mr. Vallee is active in the community in various advisory roles. He has served as a founding member of the Governor-s Council on Innovation and Technology and later joined the board of the Arizona Economic Resource Organization. From 2009 to 2011 Mr. Vallee served on the executive committee of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), which was tasked with recommending changes to the former Arizona department of commerce and providing for a stronger statewide economic development model. Most recently, asked Mr. Vallee to join the ACA-s board of directors. He also participates in , a nonprofit organization which provides a forum through which corporate leadership can effectively and efficiently collaborate with the public sector and nonprofits to establish and sustain a safe, healthy and prosperous community.
