With 16% of the world’s reserves, Iran has the second largest natural gas supply in the world, surpassed only by Russia. Furthermore, with the production of 115 billion m3 gas per year, Iran is the fourth largest natural gas producer in the world, after Russia, the US and Canada.

With Iran’s expanding industry and a population exceeding 72 million,, the Iranian government is concentrating more and more on all the energy resources available in the country. Natural gas is one of these resources. There are currently seven active gas refineries in Iran, producing 315 million m3 of gas per day, but this is still not sufficient to meet the country’s current consumption of 440 million m3 of gas per day.

Bidboland 2 Gas Refinery, one of the newest projects of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), will be built north west of Behbahan City and is projected to refine 57 million m3 of gas per day.

Two local companies, Sazeh and Jahanpars, formed a consortium and won the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Process Contract for this project. Arya-SGS has been appointed to supervise the qualification of activities as a Third Party Inspection partner.

Arya-SGS will provide all offshore and onshore inspection services, including Supply Chain Services for project equipment such as rotary, stationary and electrical equipment, bulk material, steel structures, piping systems and accessories, tanks, pressure vessels, Non-Destructive Testing Services, instrumentation loading and unloading.

In the first stage of work where vendors will be verified and involved, Arya-SGS will benefit from its worldwide network which organizes spot inspections of suppliers inside and outside Iran.
At the peak of construction work approximately 25 full-time inspectors will oversee construction works on site.

Construction of the refinery has already started and civil works are in progress. Construction work is planned for completion within 44 months.

Arya-SGS was formed in 2002 as a joint venture between SGS Industrial Services in Iran and ITI, an affiliate of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran. After forming this joint venture, all SGS Iran’s industrial activities were transferred to Arya-SGS which currently employs 450 people.

As with all SGS affiliates, Arya-SGS is under the supervision and control of SGS and is supported by the global SGS network.
