Regensburg – The new SGM PilotBox from INSYS icom offers a compact and flexible charging control unit that not only can be used in simple wall boxes but also in intelligent charging station systems or car park systems.
The space-saving, compact design combined with detachable screw terminals and DIN rail mounting allow for quick and easy installation. The maximum permissible charging current can be defined in a simple and flexible manner by using two contacts (external wired link).

The charging process as well as all safety functions comply with the latest version of the charging standard according to IEC 61851 (Mode 3) and VDE-AR-E 2623-2-2. These standards include generating and monitoring a pilot signal to determine the maximum charging current, detecting the resistance coding in the charging cable, controlling the load protection as well as controlling and monitoring the connector locking and ventilation.

In addition to its simple stand-alone function, the SGM Pilotbox can also be used in combination with an additional logic controller (PLC) in order to implement a large variety of charging point concepts.
With supply voltages exceeding 13 V, the SGM PilotBox provides the operating voltage for 12 V actuators and therefore makes an additional 12 V power supply unnecessary. Operational reliability is ensured in a variety of ways, for example, with the use of manufacturer-independent connector locking detection, charge rate restriction and a safety shutdown linked to monitoring the charging process.
