MSC now offers the E522.7x family of step-down (buck) converters from Elmos. The E522.7x family features a high efficiency rate of more than 90% and low current consumption of only 12 µA in standby mode, and 8 µA in sleep mode. The new E522.7x family of converters comprises nine devices and is designed for an input voltage range between 4.5 V and 40 V. Models with 3 V, 5 V or variable output voltage from 1.5 V up to almost the input voltage at 100% duty cycle are available. Depending on the model, the maximum output current is 350 mA, 500 mA or 1 A. Due to the integrated power MOSFETs, only a very limited number of external components are required. The Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) regulators operate at up to 1.33 MHz and achieve outstanding response times, stability and high efficiency over the entire voltage and output current ranges. The idle detection automatically switches to the idle mode with a current consumption of typically 8 µA if either no switching activity occurred for longer than typically 110 ?s or the duty cycle of the converter falls below a limit of typically 1:72. The switching regulator is reactivated again when the output voltage falls by 5%. The wake-up delay after low-power idle mode is typically only 10 µs. The E522.7x family of converters comes in SOIC8-EP packages. The converters are equipped with short circuit, over temperature and open circuit protection. Due to the wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C, these converters are suited for use in various industrial voltage supplies where high efficiency and low internal consumption in low-power mode are important. ELMOS Semiconductor AG For many years, ELMOS Semiconductor is a leading developer and manufacturer of system solutions based on semiconductors. On the basis of the modular high-voltage CMOS technology, ELMOS offers a wide range of analog, mixed-signal circuit elements such as voltage regulators, analog/digital converters, power drivers and non-volatile memories.
