Nitrogen analysis now available on the spot with detachable probe

März 14 11:04 2013

The UVTouch detachable probe, launched last year, is for use with the well-proven PMI-MASTER PRO, Oxford Instruments’ high performance analyser for positive material identification, especially designed for the metals inspection industry, quality control systems and safety procedures. It enables the user to have all analysis information available on the probe and without any compromise in analytical precision or elements to be determined. Moreover, the control of the main PMI-MASTER PRO unit is possible by using the probe’s advanced user interface. An embedded PC on the UVTouch probe runs a user-friendly interface with large icons and a virtual keyboard. This allows fast results even on remote, difficult and hard to reach areas in industrial yards due to the long connection cable. The smart nose design gives access to narrow spraces and samples with difficult surfaces and shapes.

The PMI-MASTER PRO in combination with the UVTouch probe offers both, high accuracy and stability of analysis in varying environments – especially for low C, P, S, Sn, As and B concentration in steel. The detection of N (Nitrogen) is essential for the positive material identification of Duplex and super-Duplex steel grades. These alloys are characterised by a certain amount of Nitrogen (0.1 – 0.8%) to improve strength and corrosion resistance. Duplex steel, one of the leading prospective materials, is vastly used in chemical and petrochemical plants and can now be supervised by the PMI-MASTER PRO in combination with the UVTouch.
